File Types

Any type of file can be uploaded but some file types are handled differently.

Image Files
Certain file types are considered as images. WebFilm recognizes JPG, JPEG, GIF, BMP, TIF, TIFF, PNG, as image files. Normally, when uploading photos with an extension like jpeg, the file type in the Gallery next to the file name is selected as Image. A thumbnail of the image will display in the Gallery and it will appear as an image in an album. Other file types will be treated as a file and will appear in WebFilm as an icon. It may be useful to upload a very large image as a file so WebFilm will not resize it. In this case, select the file type as File. With this setting, the image cannot be viewed in WebFilm but the original file will remain unaltered for download.

Multimedia Files
Video and audio files can be mixed with images and launched directly from an album providing the visitor's client computer has a media player installed that recognizes the file type. Video files with the extension WMV, MOV, AVI, MPEG, 3GP and audio files MP3, WAV can be uploaded as file type- File. When viewed in an album a Play button will be available to the viewer. This allows video clips from camcorders, camera phones, digital cameras and music to be included in albums as easily as photos.

Special Files - ZIP & PDF:
When uploading ZIP and PDF files WebFilm allows you the option of treating them as images or files. If you upload a PDF, as an image, WebFilm will create a jpg image file for every page contained in the PDF and will then put these jpg files as separate images into the Gallery. If you upload the PDF as a file, however, WebFilm will upload the PDF file as a single item and represent it with an icon.

If a single ZIP file containing images is uploaded and the file type is selected as Image, each separate file within the ZIP file will be loaded into the Gallery as a separate image. If the file type is selected as File then all the files in the ZIP file are saved separately in the Galley as if they had been uploaded one by one.
